I look over at Gina. Damn. Her cheeks are red. Her eyes are fierce. And she’s growling. I think she’s about to climb out of the car and hand this perp his own ass.

The perp shoots at us from the cruiser’s window. I can see Leo barking and clawing at the partition between the front and back seats.

Backup races in and surrounds the car.

You better believe in a minute flat the perp is apprehended and Leo’s in my arms licking my face.

“Leo!” Gina joins in. “You were so brave!”
